Auburn, California has a rich and colorful history, much of it focused on the discovery of gold by Claude Chana in 1848 and the ensuing gold rush that put Auburn on the map. But there is another, less obvious vein of gold running through the hills and ravines of Auburn- our literary heritage.

While Auburn’s place in historical literature may have arisen from the ghosts of George Milton and Lennie Small, the protagonists in Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, our town has a real literary history as rich as Steinbeck’s language itself.

    A couple of points need to be brought forward for you consideration.

    One, we at Gold County Wordsmiths are seeking to make this site, AuburnAuthors.com, a more dynamic location for the sharing of information that concerns the writer and those who are aspiring to write. By sharing your ideas, experiences, and events here, we can achieve that and gain exposure in a much larger world of the internet. I ask you to actively participate in this endeavor.

    Second point, we ask that each one of you encourage and invite, anyone who can add to our quest for information about the writing, publishing and marketing facets of the book industry, to Gold Country Wordsmiths.
